By Dr. Hetal Patel – Certified Physiotherapist
Recovering from an ACL injury or surgery? You’re not alone. ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injuries are common among athletes and active individuals—but with the right physiotherapy, a full recovery is absolutely possible. At Hetal’s Core Physiotherapy, Kalyan, Dr. Hetal Patel provides expert, personalized ACL rehabilitation programs to help you regain strength, stability, and confidence in your knee.
The ACL is one of the major ligaments in the knee that stabilizes the joint during movement. ACL injuries typically occur due to sudden stops, twists, or impacts—often during sports like football, cricket, basketball, or even in road accidents.
You may hear a “pop” sound, followed by pain, swelling, and a feeling of instability or “giving way” in the knee. An ACL tear often requires surgical reconstruction, followed by a structured rehabilitation program.
ACL rehab is not just about healing—it’s about restoring full function and preventing re-injury. At Hetal’s Core Physiotherapy, Dr. Hetal Patel provides evidence-based, phase-wise rehabilitation tailored to each patient’s recovery timeline and physical goals.
Your program may include:
Pain & swelling control (ice therapy, elevation)
Gentle range of motion exercises
Static strengthening for quadriceps and hamstrings
Weight-bearing as tolerated
Functional strengthening
Balance and proprioception exercises
Resistance training
Core strengthening
Low-impact cardio
Gait and posture correction
Jump-landing techniques
Return-to-sport testing
Psychological confidence building
Each session is guided and monitored, ensuring safe progress and optimal outcomes for both athletes and non-athletes.
ACL injuries may seem overwhelming, but with the right guidance and commitment, full recovery is within reach. At Hetal’s Core Physiotherapy, Kalyan, Dr. Hetal Patel combines clinical expertise with compassionate care to help you return stronger than before.

Most patients need 6 to 9 months to fully recover and return to high-impact activities. Consistency in physiotherapy is key.
Partial tears or mild instability may be treated conservatively. However, complete tears in active individuals often require surgical repair followed by rehab.
Only after completing all phases of rehab and passing strength, balance, and functional tests—usually around 6 to 9 months post-op, depending on progress.
